Phase 1 of this project began on February 16th, 2015 and was implemented by Orado Technologies Limited. As at December 2020, 17 million fingerprints from NIBSS database had been merged into NIMC's ABIS (Automatic Biometric Identification System). At the end of the phase 2 of this project, 32 million more records would be migrated from NIBSS database into NIMC's ABIS. This translates into a total of approximately 490 million fingerprints, 49 million facial IDs and an estimated 49 million newly issued NINs, all based on data inputted from NIBSS records.
The responsibility for designing this project, developing the interfaces and scripts, creating and testing the ETL tools, generating and reviewing the migration statistics, cleansing/harmonizing the data into NIMC's ABIS and training personnel for the project and for its implementation, implementing the project and handing off to NIMC rests with Orado Technologies.
Phase 1 of this project was funded by Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement Scheme (NIBSS) while Phase 2 is being funded by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
